You can turn off two services on Windows 8 to allow it to run faster. Remote Assistance is running in the background in case you may want someone to log onto your computer and fix it, must users do not use the service and it can be a security hole on the computer. The other service is System Restore which allows you to revert your computer to a particular point back in time. Mostly used by users who have a virus but the save points never clear out the virus so it is not as helpful as intended.
To turn off these services:
1. On the desktop view, right mouse click on the bottom left corner Windows logo
2. Click on System on the menu
3. On the left side click on the link titled Remote Settings
4. Uncheck the box for Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer
